If you are using Vista This document provides instructions to scan an image on the scanner and then transfer the image to a computer. Scanning a picture and saving it to the computer To use the scan features, the unit and the computer must be connected and turned on.
The HP Photosmart Software must also be installed and running on the computer before scanning. Method one: Scanning from the control panel Follow these instructions to load an original, scan it, and transfer the image to a computer.
Raise the top cover of the product. Load your original print side down in the right front corner of the glass. Press the Start Scan button on the control panel. The Scan Menu opens. If you are already in the Scan Menu, it sends the scan job to the selected destination. A list of the computers connected to the HP All-in-One appears on the display. Press OK to select the default computer, or press the down arrow to select a different computer, and then press OK. The Scan To menu appears on the display, listing the programs on the selected computer.
Press OK to select the default program to receive the scan, or press the down arrow to select a different program.
Then press OK. A preview image of the scan displays on your computer. Make any changes to the preview image. Click Accept when you are finished. The HP Photosmart software can be used to scan images, including panoramic images. Using this software, you can also modify, print, and share your scanned images.
For more information, see the onscreen Help that came with the product. This results in the No Connection error message. If this occurs, restart the computer or the HP Photosmart Software to restore full functionality. Scanning to third-party software destinations When using the scan to function from the control panel of the product, it is possible to select a third-party software program.
The list of scan to destinations shown on the product might not always contain the wanted third-party program. To see if the third-party program is listed in the scan to destinations list, follow the steps: Open the Solution Center software. Click Settings. Click Scan to setup.
If needed, select the Scan destination list tab. The list of available scan destinations is on the left side. Add the wanted program to the front panel destination list. If the wanted third-party software program is not on the destinations list, try the following: Check the HP Web site for any upgrades to the software for the product.
As new programs are released, they might have been added to the scan destinations list. Use a program that does appear on the Scan destinations list to accept the scan. Then do one of the following: Copy and paste the scanned image to the wanted program. Save the scanned image to a file. Then insert the saved image into the third-party program.
